Our story

A community idea. An oceanfront home.

“UNIDAD was established by Miami Beach residents committed to responding to community needs and respecting the city’s diversity.”

UNIDAD of Miami Beach is a private nonprofit founded by residents who cared about the needs of their community. UNIDAD developed and built the North Beach Senior Center, and it now runs the City-owned center through an agreement with the City of Miami Beach.

The center serves older adults in North Beach, Mid Beach and surrounding communities, with a focus on making programs more accessible to low- and moderate-income seniors. People of every background, ethnicity, race and religion are welcome.

Since opening in March 2015 in Bandshell Park, the center’s oceanfront gathering spaces and terraces have made room for activities, meals and cultural life.

Our purpose

A welcoming place for older adults.

Somewhere to share meals, take part in activities, build relationships and find information and referrals. Every program is designed to support connection, health, independence and learning.

Also offered: recreation, fitness, education, employment services, nutrition support, cultural activities and social connection.

The North Beach Oceanfront Center serves as the senior center by day and also provides space for cultural programming and events. The senior center’s purpose is to help older adults remain independent, healthy and engaged—not simply to fill their calendars.
